INFARMED hosted this week a meeting that gathered virtually over 50 participants of the Working Group of Quality Managers (WGQM). The event was held during last Thursday and Friday within the scope of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The participants debated and shared experiences in matters like cooperation, audits and simplification procedures.

A significant part of the meeting focused on the implementation of the Work Plan of the Group divided in five specific work streams. For the next four years, the goal of WGQM is to enhance the quality management standards, including external assessment, improve the process management, reinforce risk management, adjust internal audits and upgrade best practices.

The derived specific objectives were adapted in order to strengthen the implementation of the EMRN strategy.

At the start of the meeting, Cláudia Belo Ferreira, member of the Executive Board of INFAERMED, highlighted the importance of the Group during the last year and its openness to embrace “new solutions, products, methods and mood for the new”. It was also emphasized the role of the future Workplan in harmonized procedures and best practices between the agencies that are part of the network.

The HMA Working Group of Quality Managers (WGQM) provides guidance relating to quality management and best practice benchmarking, in support of the efforts of the European Medicines Regulatory Network (EMRN) with regard to public and animal health.
