Priorities in the area of Medicines

The main goal in the area under the responsibility of Infarmed is to promote debate and contribute to the building of an European Health Union, namely with a proposal for wider availability of medicines and medical devices.

This aim will be pursued by focusing the debate on three core pillars: open strategic autonomy, sustainability and accessibility.

This objective is conformed to the Pharmaceutical Strategy for Europe, which was adopted last November by the European Commission, and aimed at supporting the role of the European agencies and their coordination with the national agencies of the Member States.

Bearing in mind that the priorities of the Portuguese Presidency are in line with the Pharmaceutical Strategy for Europe, Infarmed will be strongly engaged in the development of a regulatory framework that guides research and technologies developed in the field of medicines and medical devices.
