This Wednesday, INFARMED presided over the last of the meetings scheduled by the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU. More than 70 representantives of the Network of Competent Authorities on Pricing and Reimbursement (NCAPR) gathered virtualy to debate the reinforcement of the cooperation within the Network. A new model of organization and work method was presented with the objective of strengthening the debate and the adoption of concrete actions to be implemented in the area of Pricing and Reimbursement.
During the meeting, the participants were able to learn and discuss improvments in the topics of evidence generation, competition and excessive price increases, national practices on procurement policies and transparency of public R&D costs.
This day also marks the end of the Portuguese Presidency. During these six motnths, INFARMED led the drive to implement the objectives set for the area of medicines and medical devices, focused on wider availability of medicines and medical devices, around three core pillars: open strategic autonomy, sustainability and accessibility.
Besides the 20 chaired meetings, INFARMED organized an international Conference dedicated to those topics, that was essencial for the preparation of the already approved Conclusions of the Council regarding Health.
At the same time, INFARMED and the Portuguese Presidency were able to unlock the negotiations between the Member-States regarding the regulation of HTA. The political agreement with EP was also confirmed today at the COREPER meeting.
There was also progress on the negotiation of the reinforced role of the European Agency of Medicines (EMA), with the approval of such improvements.
